Golden Time Of NAC Breda Football Team
In the initial years when the football team was founded in the year 1912, the start wasn’t really commendable. But when NAC moved to the new stadium Ploegske; the team as noticed by many. NAC, in fact, became one of the top teams of the highest Southern Division. It was the year of 1919 when NAC won champions in the southern division and was promoted to play Dutch champions Competition. NAC finish the championship at the later stage ad in 1920, it becomes one of the first clubs to enter the international grounds.
NAC was in fact seen against Read Madrid CF once after few friendly matches on the international league. NAC won the match against Madrid with 0-4 and were highlighted in the Spanish newspaper with the title of “NAC: Los Muchacos Del Breda, Maestos Del Futbol’”, which is translated as “The boys from Breda, Masters in Football”.
In the year 1921, NAC become Dutch Football champion which is known as one of the greatest achievements till date. In that championship they defeated: Ajax, B Quick 1887 and Go Ahead. NAC, as a matter of fact, played at the high level and were considered to be the best clubs in Dutch football in the 20s and 30s. They won 6 titles in the southern division and become popular in the era of football industry. AntoonVerlegh, who was playing for NAC since the foundation then declared retirement in 1931 who is known to be the club Icon for NAC.
NAC also witnessed the tension during World War II, and tried to divert the nation to football instead of war. NAC is an iconic name in football and will always be remembered by every Dutch football follower. NAC was a legacy in itself which can be felt and encountered at the NAC museum.
