If Arjun Tendulkar debut in UAE can we pick him for dream 11 Team.
Sachin Tendulkar is most definitely the most recognized face in the world of cricket ever. He is a once in a generation icon and has in his time influenced the game and made it what it is in India. His life has been under the scanner for almost all of his playing career and everything he has ever done has generated news amongst the paparazzi.
It has been over 7 years that Sachin has retired and barring a few charity games appearances, he has majorly stayed away form the game. However, his fans have been following his family as much as his career and that has brought the spotlight on his son Arjun Tendulkar.
Arjun has certainly benefitted from training under the tutelage of the great man from a very young age and although he might not have had the start to his cricketing career that his father had, he is certainly an exciting prospect coming up.
Arjun is a left arm fast bowler. He is tall and well-built and spends a sizeable amount of his time in the gym. He has been working continuously on his skills and has shown his prowess in a few domestic games for Mumbai related clubs and in the Indian Under 19 setup. He is pretty much a T20 specialist at this moment and at 21 has only played a handful of T20 games in the domestic circuit and it was quite the shock when he was picked up by the Mumbai Indians in the 2021 auction for 20 Lakh at his base price.
Now, while this may be good for the youngster, this sent a lot of tongues wagging. Nepotism has been a hot topic of debate lately and this is one instance where there was criticism from a lot of corners about his auction pickup being influenced by his father’s stature in the game and also his past contributions to the Mumbai Indians team.
There were those who came out in his support too and plauded him for the amount of hard work he had put in to get where he is.
All said and done, it now gets down to business when the IPL begins on 19th of September. This is where the mouths stop rolling and the bat starts to swing.
Mumbai Indians are one of the most accomplished sides in the tournament and they are 5-time champions so it is one team which is tough to get into considering the kind of players it has. Particularly when it comes to their bowling options they have the likes of Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya and other good bowlers who can create an impact with their bowling at any stage of the game. To get into this team, Arjun would need a lot of things to work for him. So, it would not be a wise idea to get him into your dream11 team prediction because he is going to be their 5th or 6th choice as a bowler in the tournament.
Where Arjun does have a chance is a dead Rubber. Currently Mumbai Indians are 4th in the points table and by the looks of it, the qualification battle might go into the very last game. But if they can go on a winning run and the other teams falter massively, it is only then that he is ever going to have a chance of being in contention for a spot in the playing 11. So maybe towards the end of the tournament, he could have his day in the sun.
